Arguably
one of the finest dining experiences in Margaret River would have
to be a long, lazy lunch at Flutes Restaurant, surrounded by the glorious
Brookland Valley Vineyard.
Year round this culinary icon draws visitors from far and wide with
its uncompromising quality and beautiful vistas. For years the restaurant,
situated off Caves Road in the heart of the Willyabrup region, has
set a standard in food, wine and ambience that's hard to beat anywhere
in Australia.
Casual yet elegant, and set on the shore of a beautiful dam on the
Willyabrup Brook, Flutes won the prestigious American Express
Best Country Restaurant Award in 1996, 1997 and 1998.
The restaurant specialises in delightful regional dishes designed
to marry perfectly with the range of outstanding Brookland Valley
wines, which are sourced from vines surrounding the restaurant.
A tasting of Brookland Valley wines is available at the table and
the menu is most comprehensive and changes with the seasons.
There is always a wide selection of taste sensations featured on
the menu. How about king prawn, squid and fire seared pimento rolled
in souvlaki served with Greek yogurt dressing?
Or maybe you are partial to Harvey beef cutlet on roasted parsnip
with herbed raisin butter and cabernet jus?
Then there's the recommended choice of Flutes manager and bon vivant
extraordinaire Drew Bernhardt. He is rather fond of the smoked Salmon,
Kervella goat's cheese and spinach dumplings in turmeric tempura
on greens and a citrus glaze. Drew has no hesitation in recommending
the Brookland Valley 1999 Sauvignon Blanc to complement his current
favourite.
Flutes is a restaurant for all seasons, however Spring is particularly
appealing. Nothing beats a sunny afternoon, good company, great
food and wine while looking out over the water!
Flutes is open seven days for lunch and Thursday, Friday and Saturday
for dinner.
Bookings are necessary on (08) 9755 6250.
