Eating out: Restaurants Worth a Visit

Margaret River's growing reputation as a wine region is rapidly being matched by its restaurants, many of which have won national awards for excellence. While some of the region's finest restaurants are to be found at the wineries, there are also a number of outstanding eateries in the Margaret River township itself.

One of these is Ye Olde Worlde Restaurant (formerly the 1885), which has gained a reputation for an excellent menu. New chef Michael Flouch specialises in a mouth-watering changing daily menu using the very best local produce. The restaurant, which is situated at the Grange on Farrely Hotel, also boasts a fine wine list dominated by labels from local vineyards.

Just down the road at the Freycinet Inn you will find another old favourite with locals and travellers alike. This is the Explorers Restaurant. The unique rustic atmosphere of the Explorers is emphasised by the warmth of its open fireplaces. It is open for dinner and breakfast daily and also offers a children's menu. Once again, the wine list is comprehensive and features a good selection from local producers.
