Clive Otto had
to think about his favourite Margaret River wine ("There's
lots of good ones."), but it didn't take him long to get back
to us with his choice.
"Can I
choose two?" he asked. We informed him there were no rules.
"Out of the reds, it would have to be the Moss Wood 1991 Cabernet
Sauvignon," he said. "And in the whites, it's the Pierro
1992 Chardonnay.""
Clive knows
his wines. The Moss Wood Cab. Sav. is a delightful red featuring
spicy, lifted redcurrant, mulberry and oak characters, beautifully
integrated with soft tannins. A beauty from an outstanding Margaret
River label.
The Pierro 1992
is yet another great wine from the inimitable Dr. Mike Peterkin.
It is complex yet subtle wine with wonderful hints of melon and
peach, beautifully integrated with lingering nutty characters. Excellent
balance and a long, crisp dry finish.
