About Us

The Centre

The centre is situated in the heart of the Margaret River wine district, about three hours drive from the capital of Western Australia, Perth.

We pride ourselves on having a great "hands-on" knowledge of Margaret River wines and wineries. Our on-line centre is your chance to learn about the great wines available and their makers.

Centrally located in Cowaramup, the Margaret River Regional Wine Centre is the ideal place to begin your exploration of this renowned and varied wine growing area.

Sample your favourite styles in our tasting room, compare notes with your friends, then plan an itinerary to take in the wineries you'd most like to visit. Our informed staff will point you in the right direction.

Each day we also conduct comparative tastings and showcase featured wines of the region. Maps, tourist guides and information about the area are all available.

You can now buy a comprehensive range of Margaret River wines from one single online store. The management of the online centre believes that the quality and variety of the region's wines are so good that they deserve a single platform for you, the customer, to make your own choice. Most wines have extensive wine notes attached.

The Management

The centre is owned and managed by local wine identities, that have extensive knowledge of the industry, having a growing and wine making background. If you catch one of the owners in the shop, be sure to ask them about their own labels. You can usually taste this wine, and have various wines on tastings at any one time.

The staff at the centre are knowledgeable about wines and the region, and cordially invite you to talk to them via e-mail, plan a trip, or simply tell them you are dropping in. Whatever the message, be sure you get in contact.

The Region
Margaret River:

The region is going from strength to strength, the wines produced in the region cover all the classic varietals and many new wineries are emerging. The very pleasant thing about a visit to the region is the scenery, the beauty of the area and the culinary delights. As a tourism destination there is so much to see.

Geography:

The landscape in Margaret River changes markedly kilometre to kilometre. Whether it be characterised by small creeks and sweeping valleys, or by thick native bush.

For successful vineyard planting, there must be an element of protection from the sometimes harsh sea winds The soil extremely permeable when moist, but will readily shed this moisture from the sloping valleys. As overall water capacities are low, there is a general need for irrigation among the vines.

Climate:

Area MapThe ocean strongly defines the climate in Margaret River. It has a mean annual range of only 7.6C, and has a defining Mediterranean climate. Only 200mm of the annual 1160mm of rain falls between October and April. For grape growers this means hopefully a dry ripening and harvesting season. For more information about the climate and the region, see our Season section.

Heat Degree Days 1690
Sunshine Hours per Day 8.1 hours

Growing Season Rainfall 200mm

Supply:

Margaret River wines are alaways in high demand. Whilst we do our very best to maintain ordering stocks of all the wines we list, there are unfortunately times when we just run completely out of particluar line. As you know wine is irreplacable, once that vintage is gone, that is it.

In the event this happens to one of our customer orders, we will contact you immediately and recommend a comparable wine, or cancel the order if that is your wish.

If you would like to buy a West Australian wine which we do not have this site, then please contact us.  We will endeavour to source it for you.
